KH Hinckley Salon has picked up two coveted accolades at KH Hair Group’s 2018 Awards evening.

Twenty two awards were handed out on the night to the Group’s top performers, with the team at KH Hair Hinckley, walking away with the ‘Salon Colour Award‘ while 19-year-old stylist Lizzie Williams was named as the John Flanagan Rising Star Award winner.

Salon Director, Helen Fuller, said:

“The salon has always been very colour-focused and we have a great reputation locally for our work.  Colour is considered to be a growth area in the industry right now and I really love working with it, so I’m absolutely delighted to win this award.”

Picking up her award, Lizzie said:

“This is the best night of my life! I’m totally over the moon to win as I’ve worked really hard to be focused and determined to do well in this category.”

Helen added: “Myself and the team are really happy for Lizzie.  She works very hard and is very committed. She thoroughly deserves it.”

The biggest night of the year for the East Midlands salon group was kicked off by marking a ten-year partnership with Childline during which the Group has raised almost £60,000. The 21 salons have been holding fund-raising events for the last decade ranging from pamper evenings to head shaves and taking part in charity events from static cycling to tough mud challenges.

KH Hair Group’s co-directors, Darren Messias and Tim Fee thanked the 300-strong audience for being actively involved in the fund-raising.  “Everyone has shown a real commitment to raising money for this very worthy cause.” said Darren. “We’ve had some fantastic ideas from the teams who have been really enthusiastic in getting involved.  I’d also like to thank our wonderful clients for their support and generosity.”

Childline is a free 24-hour counselling service for children and young people up to their 19th birthday in the United Kingdom provided by the NSPCC. The charity deals with any issue which causes distress or concern, common issues dealt with include child abuse, bullying, mental illness, parental separation or divorce, pregnancy and substance misuse.

Claire Campbell, community fundraising manager for Childline, said:

“KH Hair’s support over the past ten years has been life-changing for so many children.  The staff and clients have really embraced fundraising and the energy and enthusiasm they bring to the partnership makes a real difference. “Childline is a lifeline to young people when they are at their most vulnerable and KH Hair understands the unique role it plays in providing a safe space for children to communicate.”

The event took place on 28 April at the Roundhouse in Derby city centre, hosting KH Hair’s 300+ staff with VIP guests from Wella and Childline. During the evening, the 300-strong audience was treated to a show stopping catwalk by the KH Hair Creative Team.

Darren added: “There are always some really tough decisions to be made when judging and this year has been no exception.  Our congratulations go to all the winners and runners up who work so hard all year round and thoroughly deserve this recognition.”
